RDS (Room Data Sheets) are used to document the information and requirements of every space within a project. These are typically prepared by the client during the briefing (also known as architectural programming in the US) phase of the design process however, they could also be updated during the design process to reflect the changing requirements, or to provide a more complete and clearer image to those responsible for the project’s delivery.

The Room Data Sheets SmartTool is an accurate and reliable sheet that lets you view and schedule your building utility that can be used to create rooms (or space) sheets of data within the Revit project. The tool is able to generate 3D plans elevations, schedules, and views of rooms or spaces.

The tool will default to the Room Numbering Template and Sheet Format that are defined by the Revit Project. However you can choose a different sheet style and name by clicking the Tool Options tab. Alternately, click ‘Load’ …’ on the toolbar to load previously saved configurations that will replace the current settings. In the ‘Naming tab, the user can choose whether to include the selected room/space name in the sheet’s ‘Sheet Name’ text box which is displayed on the left side of the screen. “View Name” is the text that appears in the title bar of every view, and “View Increment” specifies the number of increments between each view once it is placed on the sheet. The option ‘Spacing’ allows you to set the spacing between each view.
